Mother’s Day Special- North Meets South- Drink Recipe
I by no means drink a lot- ok, a bit more while we’re all staying at home, but really not all that much. I do like to unwind with a drink every once in a while though. I’ve enjoyed mixing my own drinks since I couldn’t drink alcohol, and it was just juice. Since then, obviously, I’ve added a variety of alcohol to my repertoire. I couldn’t keep this one to myself- I call this drink recipe North meets South!
The story behind North meets South!
I added a new one while on my Myrtle Beach trip. While I was in Myrtle Beach I quite enjoyed my time. I highly recommend that you try something like it! If you can’t then at least steal yourself away a day or an evening to do nothing but chill, hopefully with a nice view. A glass of wine will certainly do, but I’d like to make a suggestion for a new drink to try if you’d like.
My own indecisiveness led to my purchasing both wine, and a mini bottle of liqueur. Have I mentioned I like trying new things? Of course I chose the one that sounded good, but I’ve never tried.
Butter Pecan Sippin’ Cream… Mmmm! It’s very similar to Irish Cream, but definitely it’s own drink, basically a cream liqueur. It’s worth noting here that I do have a definite sweet tooth. Sippin’ Cream is quite sweet.
It’s sweet enough that my first thought was to mix it with something- Well, I was essentially there to spur my imagination. (I just didn’t know it in the beginning.)
Bringing them together!
Anyway, I thought of coffee as a mixer almost automatically. It made sense since it was a tad chilly with the breeze and I’ve always enjoyed a good Irish coffee. While I drank it though I had a splash of inspiration. In Vermont we have a Liqueur we call Sapling. This one is also delicious. It’s liqueur distilled from Maple syrup! (Yes, it is also sweet, but not creamy) Heads up, it’s higher proof than the Sippin’ Cream. I think it tastes almost like I’m sipping on Maple syrup.
So, obviously they don’t have Sapling in South Carolina. So I had to bring some of the Sippin’ Cream north to try my idea. I am SO glad I did! It’s now one of my favorite drink recipes! I have to be careful though since I only came home with three mini bottles of the butter pecan cream liqueur, and I wasn’t able to find it in the biggest liquor store in the region.
Ingredients-
- 10oz cup of coffee
- 2oz Butter pecan Sippin’ Cream
- 2oz Maple Liqueur
Instructions-
Brew your coffee. Measure and add the butter pecan Sippin’ Cream. Measure and add the Sapling (maple liqueur). Stir, enjoy!
