7 Months in- A Year With My Camera- This is how it’s going
So, as you may have figured out I started this whole thing out of embracing a love of photography. I also feel strongly about continuously striving to learn more and staying current in your education and activities outside your family life. This is my experience so far in the project I’ve been working on in this recent endeavor. I joined a year long photography course aptly named “A Year With My Camera.” This is my review of how this it’s going- almost 7 months in! This photography course is appropriate for complete beginners. Emma Davis is the creator, and runs the course. It’s simple, and free to take the email…

Just a simple video of an absolutely stunning sunset I witnessed in Myrtle beach this year. I know, I know, I often write about the beauty of a good sunrise, but I enjoy a good sunset too! They are just easier for me so maybe I don’t appreciate them as much? This one stood out! I hope you enjoy! If you’d like to get more time to enjoy life the way you would like without feeling guilty check out the three steps I’ve outlined to make more of your time your own! 3 Steps to prioritizing you (It’s free!)

Peaceful Moment With the Dolphins on the Beach
I made it back to the beach! This time when I was watching the dolphins I was more prepared to get some footage to share with you. I hope my adventure brings you some joy, inspiration and a peaceful moment dolphins on the beach! I kept it short and sweet this week in hopes it brings you the peace the dolphins brought me! If you enjoyed this post you may find my Sunrise Sessions or Silver Lake adventure interesting as well!

Vacation Road Trip! Just in time for a foliage show!
Obviously, this summer we haven’t gotten out a whole lot. As you may recall from a post I wrote in March we had just reached a point where it was a bit easier to go on slightly longer trips with or without the whole family. My husband could take time off easier, and we were, well, at least a little more comfortable financially. Our girls are all older, and easier to “manage” if you will. A trip for each of us I feel fairly confident with various combinations of leaving them home alone too. The only one I wouldn’t be quite ready for is Youngest being alone overnight. Eldest is…

Photography Fun- Night Sky and Exposure Triangle
I think it’s time for another photography fun post. I haven’t spent as much time on my photography as I’d like lately, but I’ve worked on some interesting things. Specifically, I’ve been working on night photography, attempting photographing lightning, and I got myself a tripod! Oh and I learned there is such a thing as an exposure triangle?! More on that in a minute. Night time sky practice a lot! (Once in a while luck helps out) Recently I’ve been working on nighttime photography. It’s completely different from daytime. At times in the past I have lucked out with a cell phone on automatic, but I’m trying to get a…

Time Is Like A River- Enjoy The Ride
“Time is like a river made up of the events which happen, and a violent stream; for as soon as a thing has been seen, it is carried away, and another comes in its place, and this will be carried away too.” ― Marcus Aurelius (Emperor of Rome), Meditations written in 167 A.C.E. Our life starts with birth. I think most mothers would agree that is a turbulent, but incredibly beautiful time. As painful, and scary as it can be we also want to hold on to it. Looking from a baby’s perspective I’d say it’s at least very scary. Everything is new. That is the point at which we…

Silver Lake- A Day’s Adventure
So, my husband took a few days off this past weekend. He works a lot, so it stood out. While the girls and I are fine mostly staying near home he doesn’t sit still well. I prefer to make my outings “count.” I go further, but less often. This weekend he had an idea that ended up being a really good compromise. We drove a few hours south to go on a hike we had meant to do before Eldest was even born. (That’s almost 20 years ago!) Back to the past for me Silver Lake has always held a special place for me. It was my mom’s favorite hike,…

More Photography Adventure in my backyard
Well, I missed any chance I had to take photos of my corner of the world with empty streets. I have to admit I was a bit disappointed. The ones I saw that others took were quite impressive, and unlikely to be offered more than once in a lifetime. I did get chances to take some interesting shots for a newbie though. In this post I’ll discuss those photos of unique moments I experienced lately. Wildlife photography in my backyard First, on one of my walks out when I happened to be experimenting with my new camera I saw a fox basically in our backyard! I was almost in the…

A New Camera- A Big Purchase For Me
I’ve always enjoyed photography as a hobby. As a kid my first camera was a Fisher price 35mm camera. It was actually pretty decent despite being a “kids” camera. In fact it performed until I was grown and moved out of my childhood home. In more recent years I always keep my phone’s camera handy and even chosen my cell phone around the camera attached to it. On my recent trip to Myrtle Beach I decided I want to do more with photography than I have been. That meant choosing a new camera and learning a few new skills… Many choices- Had to settle on one! I finally settled on…

Sunrise Sessions: A Project in Photography and Optimism!
Since the original inspiration to really getting going on this whole blog thing was how inspired I was doing my sunrise photography sessions this past February in Myrtle Beach I’ve decided maybe that could inspire someone else during this time of isolation. Of course, I don’t permanently live on the beach, but a sunrise can be quite inspiring anywhere. (I say that despite not being a morning person AT ALL) I’ve always enjoyed photography. It’s time to explore this medium in more depth. This will be an adventure in its own right- starting to learn a rudimentary skill with a bit more depth. But more than that, walking around pursuing…
